I am a full-time counselor here at Butte College and teach 1-2 sections of Counseling 20 along with teaching workshops in the CAS center. Before coming to Butte I worked at USC and the University of Arizona.
I enjoy working with small groups in class and getting to know each student in my class. I try and break class into sections and require interaction and attendance in class. Many class periods will require group work and small classroom presentations. My online classes require a quiz, journal, and discussion due each week along with a final paper. My online class does not have required meeting times.
I use Canvas for a few assignments in class and keep a grade book on Canvas. CSL 20 is a class that will force you to find out more about yourself, including what you may want to major in and careers that may interest you. CSL 20 will also look into issues that may face college students including; drugs, alcohol, suicide, depression, and other current topcis. CSL 20 has 4-5 exams/quizzes and a final paper along with many small in-class assignments and writings. There is also a required organized binder and a planner. Online classes have work due at the end of each week that includes a quiz, journal, and discussion reaction. You are also required to turn in a final paper in my online class.
