Changes Made to Fall Class Schedule

In light of the Covid-19 pandemic Butte College has moved most Fall classes to remote instruction. Because of this, students will notice significant changes in the Fall 2020 Schedule of Classes.

Online Classes

Most classes that were previously scheduled to meet in person will now be offered online. The building and room designation for these classes has been changed to “NET ONLINE.” Meeting times for each class have been left in the schedule to facilitate different class engagement patterns. Information regarding the specific engagement pattern for each class will be listed in the comment line on WebAdvisor if available.

Typical engagement patterns Include:
  • Asynchronous – Instruction will be delivered on a regularly throughout the semester, but you will not be required to interact during the specific times listed in the schedule.

  • Required Synchronous – Some or all instruction will be delivered online during the scheduled time. You will need to reserve the times listed in the schedule to attend these synchronous class meetings.

  • Optional Synchronous –Some Instructional may be held synchronously, with the instructor giving students the option to attend in real time or to work on your own time if your schedule does not allow.

  • Lecture Asynchronous / Lab Synchronous – Some courses may conduct the lecture portion of the course asynchronously but the lab synchronously.  This means that you will need to attend the lab online during scheduled time.

  • Asynchronous except for Synchronous Exams – Your instructor may hold the course asynchronously but require you to attend an exam at the time the class was originally scheduled in WebAdvisor. This ensures the assessments will be given to the entire class at the same time.

Some instructors may still be determining the best method for the class. These sections will be marked "TBD" or left blank. Students in those classes are asked to hold those time slots open in the event the class is delivered synchronously.

Additionally, instructors will be contacting students prior to the beginning of the semester to inform them of the method for class meetings.

Please Note:

Students who want to enroll in two or more classes with overlapping meeting times, will have the option to enroll in both courses If one or both courses have an asynchronous engagement pattern. To do so, please contact Admissions and Records at admissions@moonlightsonatamovie.com.

Difficult to Convert Classes

Classes that train essential workers have been classified as “difficult to convert” classes. Difficult to convert classes will have online lectures and in-person, socially distanced labs. This includes some or all classes in the following disciplines:

AET, AJLE, AUT, CNST, COS, EMS, FSC, HVAC, KIN, MFG, NSG, RT, WLD
